Growing babies or flowers?
While tending my garden this week, I had a lightbulb moment. Back in spring, I bought some Dahlia tubers, excited for a floral show but clueless about growing them! Some said they were tricky, others cheered me on. So, I popped them in the soil and waited… and waited. Finally, tiny shoots appeared! But just as they started to thrive, snails turned them into salad overnight. I was gutted and ready to quit. But instead, I got advice from online groups and my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, added some snail armour, and guess what? A few months later, my Dahlias came back stronger and bloomed beautifully! Just like my Dahlias, my breastfeeding journey started rocky, had setbacks, but with support, it blossomed!
When breastfeeding feels like you’re stuck in the weeds, reach out to online communities, local groups, and feeding experts (IBCLCs, IFTs, counsellors, and supporters). With the right support, you’ll be growing strong, healthy babies – just like a garden in full bloom!!
