What’s your go-to breastfeeding book?
I’ve got a stack of favourites, each for its own special reason. Honestly, I feel like there should be some kind of award show for these books – cue the imaginary red carpet!
Best All-Rounder Award: The Positive Breastfeeding Book by Amy Brown – This one’s the Swiss army knife of breastfeeding books, covering all the basics you need. If you’re pregnant and considering breastfeeding, grab it and dive in! It’s like having a lactation consultant in paperback form.

Best Deep Dive Award: Relactation by Lucy Ruddle – Lucy’s book is like a warm hug while she guides you through the whole relactation process. It’s gentle, thorough, and uses the kind of positive, affirming language that makes you want to stand up and cheer. It’s a gem, really.

Best Young Audience Award: The Breast Book by Emma Pickett – This book is like the cool older sibling, stepping in to fill the giant knowledge gap about boobs for young girls. Got a preteen? This book is an age-appropriate masterpiece, ready to tackle all things breast-related with just the right tone.

Best Quick Read Award: The Why It Matters series by various authors – These little books are like snacks for your brain. Small, super digestible, and packed with evidence-based info, they’re perfect for when you’re in the trenches of pregnancy or early motherhood and can’t even think about a hefty tome.

Earliest of Days Award: Fourth Trimester by Lucy Webber – Lucy Webber takes us on a wild ride through the ‘fourth trimester,’ where your adorable newborns seem convinced they’re still living in the Stone Age! The early post-birth days can feel like survival mode, but Lucy brilliantly unpacks why your tiny cave-baby clings to you like it’s a life-or-death situation—and how to make it through in one piece

Honestly, picking favourites is nearly impossible because I go through phases, and I’m forever fascinated by the topic. I’ve turned into a bit of a book-hoarder dragon – sitting on a treasure trove of breastfeeding books, clutching them like gold. Okay, maybe not that extreme… but I do need my husband to build me a new shelf soon!
